Rita became Head of Energy Policy at ESO in May 2024, and now does the role for NESO. Rita initially joined ESO in summer 2023 to support the integration of hydrogen into NESO’s whole energy remit. She was previously Strategy Director at Beyond2050, a public affairs consultancy, and before that Deputy Director Hydrogen Economy in BEIS, leading on development of the UK Hydrogen Strategy published in August 2021. Rita had a 22-year career in the civil service in a range of policy and corporate roles including Chief of Staff to Permanent Secretary and Head of Fuel Poverty Strategy, distributed energy, international climate change, science, and equality & human rights
