Mitsuaki Kato joined Mitsubishi Heavy Industries EMEA (MHI-EMEA) in July 2021 to lead thecompany’s Decarbonisation Business Department, focusing on business development in the UK and the wider European region. Prior to this role, he was responsible for business development of MHI’s Carbon Capture Plant activities in North America at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America’s Engineered Systems Division, during which time he oversaw the successful completion of the world’s largest commercially operating carbon capture plant at Petra Nova in Texas. He started his career at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Printing & Packaging Machinery in 2005, followed by roles within MHI Plant Construction Section as well as MHI’s Infrastructure Business Group’s Chemical Plant Business Department. He is actively engaging with customers across the EMEA region and looking forward to bringing commercial scale CCS to the region to help achieve corporate, national and regional Net Zero targets.
