Klaus Buttner joined the Government of Alberta in November 2015 as Managing Director of the Alberta Mexico Office. In August 2019 he moved to London and currently serves as the Managing Director for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Head of the Alberta United Kingdom Office, where he leads a team of trade and investment professionals based in the High Commission of Canada.
Klaus is a true internationalist, who has worked and studied in seven countries. He has over 20 years of leadership experience in government and in the financial sector, including as Executive Director in the Ministry of International Trade of the Province of British Columbia, Canada; as Minister-Counsellor at the Canadian Embassy in Moscow; and as Regional Vice-President at Canada’s export credit agency Export Development Canada.
Klaus earned an MBA in International Management from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. He is also a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
