Gwenda is a Senior Advisor to the Energy Industries Decarbonisation Team within the Environment & Business Directorate of the Environment Agency. She recently transferred to this role from her previous role as a Carbon Capture Sector Lead within the National Permitting Service (NPS). She continues to specialise in carbon capture, building on her experience from determining applications for carbon capture and developing resources within NPS to deliver the UK Net Zero programme.
She is a Chartered Chemist and Scientist with 30 years’ experience in the development, design, improvement and management of industrial processes and products to minimise environmental impacts and maintain regulatory compliance.
Before joining the Environment Agency as an employee, she worked for 16 years as a Principal Consultant for a global engineering consultancy across a range of industries including energy, oil & gas, chemicals, metals and manufacturing. Prior to this she worked for 14 years in industrial research and development for Solvay Interox, Pera and as an independent consultant. She specialised in development of sustainable products and processes and managed large European Union and UK Government funded industrial consortia-based projects.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Chair of the East Midlands Local Section.
