Shaun studied Engineering at the University of Cambridge before joining the faculty at Stanford University leading the Geothermal Program. He then spent 4 years with Bain & Company in London before returning to Cambridge in 2000. In 2006 he founded and led Breathing Buildings, a low energy hybrid ventilation company.
He took up the position as Director of The Royal Institution in 2018 and in 2020 was appointed Director of the Centre for Climate Repair at the University of Cambridge.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, supported numerous government initiatives and groups during the Covid-19 pandemic including the SAGE Environmental Modelling Group, was a member of the WHO High-Level Expert Group on COVID-19, and in early 2023 Shaun was appointed by the UNFCCC Supervisory Body to serve as a Methodologies Expert on the Roster of Experts. He was awarded an OBE in 2021.
